Bhubaneswar: Fire broke out at the third floor of the State Bank of India's Bapuji Nagar branch in Odisha capital early this morning.
Locals initially spotted smoke billowing out of the window of the floor and informed the Fire services department.
Two fire brigade units rushed to the spot and managed to douse the flames after an hour-long effort. The reason behind the fire mishap is yet to be ascertained.
Several important documents and records of the bank customers were reportedly gutted in the fire.
"The fire had broken out at the record room and Aadhaar room of the bank. Documents in these two rooms and some computers were damaged in the fire mishap. A total of 12 Fire personnel were engaged in dousing the flames and the situation is under control now," said a Fire Department official.
