Fire safety audit, mock drill at COVID hospitals, CCCs across Odisha

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the fire mishap at Sadguru COVID Hospital in Jagatpur of Cuttack district yesterday, Odisha Fire Services today carried out safety audit and mock drill at several COVID hospitals and COVID Care Centres (CCCs) across the state.

In the Twin City  of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, fire officials conducted mock drill at Ashwini COVID Hospital, Aditya Ashwini, SUM and KIIMS COVID Hospitals and reviewed  preparedness at the facilities in case of any eventuality. They also examined fire safety equipment at the hospitals and trained the hospital staff about their usage.

The drive was also conducted at Salandi Hospital and Bhandaripokhari COVID Care Centre in Bhadrak district, Phulbani COVID Hospital in Kandhamal district and COVID hospitals in Sitalapali, Kanisi and Berhampur in Ganjam district. The fire safety audit, capacity building and mock evacuation drill were also carried out at Jeypore COVID Hospital and Nimapada COVID Care Centre in Puri district.

Meanwhile, the Odisha Government has ordered a probe into the fire mishap occurred at Sadguru COVID Hospital earlier yesterday. Total 127 patients were immediately evacuated and shifted to other COVID hospital and CCCs in the city. Fortunately, no loss of life was  reported in the mishap.
