Fire station officer held for taking bribe in Odisha

Bhawanipatna: Odisha Vigilance officials today arrested Anupam Bag, Station Officer, Narla Fire Station in Odisha’s Kalahandi district for allegedly demanding and receiving bribe of Rs 4,000.

According to official sources, Bag had demanded the amount from complainant Barun Kumar Sahu of the district to issue a Fire Certificate in connection with the latter’s burnt car for insurance claim.

Sahu had lodged a complaint in this regard with the anti-corruption agency. A trap was today laid by the Vigilance sleuths and the official was caught red-handed while accepting the money from the complainant at his office chamber.

The entire bribe amount has been recovered from the possession of accused.
