Firearm seized from youth at airport in Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: A firearm was seized from a youth at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar today evening. Following the seizure of the firearm, the Commissionerate Police detained the youth, Rama Chandra Jena of Krushnaprasad in Puri and questioned him about the matter.

Rama Chandra was scheduled to travel in an Air Asia flight from Bhubaneswar to Chennai via Bengaluru. During luggage X-ray screening at the airport, security officials detected a country made firearm in a bag of Rama Chanda at 6.20 PM.

Based on a report of the airline’s Security In-charge, a case was registered at the Airport Police Station with Case no. 2 u/s 25(1)b Indian Arms Act.

Investigation is on to find out the youth’s criminal antecedent and from where he procured the firearm.
