Firecrackers worth over Rs 5 Lakh seized in Odisha’s Balasore; godown owner detained

Soro: A police team today seized firecrackers worth more than Rs 5 lakh following a surprise raid on an illegal godown at Adanga Bazaar under Soro police limits in Balasore district. Police have detained the godown owner in this connection and initiated a detailed probe.

According to official sources, the team comprising Sub-Inspector Bijay Barik and led by Soro PS IIC Prabhanshu Sekhar Mishra conducted a raid leading to the seizure of a huge cache of firecrackers. The godown is located near the Old Fish Market under Soro civic limits.

The seized firecrackers were carried to the police station in two vehicles. “We will intensify raids in the future as Diwali is approaching, a policeman in the raid team expressed.

It is pertinent to mention here that another police team seized firecrackers worth a total of over Rs 20 lakh following raids conducted on three illegal manufacturing units on November 1, 2023, in Salikotha village of Aruha panchayat under Jaleswar police limits in Balasore district.
