Firing over political rivalry leaves two injured in Odisha’s Khordha

Khordha: In an incident of pre-poll violence, two persons sustained critical injuries in a firing which allegedly took place over political rivalry at Kantalabai village under Tangi police limits in Odisha’s Khordha district late last night.

According to reports, the victims, identified as Siba Parida and Nalini Parida, had a heated exchange of words with 5-6 youths in the village. The incident took an ugly turn as the youths opened fire at the duo.

Both sustained bullet injuries and were rescued by villagers who admitted the two to the District Headquarters Hospital.

Policemen have been deployed in the village to avoid any untoward incident. Palpable tension was prevailing in the locality, till last reports came in. Investigation into the matter is underway.
