Bhubaneswar: First copy garments of some popular brands worth around Rs 43 lakh were seized from a store in Bolangir district of Odisha today.
The Town Police in Bolangir seized the first copy garments including trousers, shirts and track pants during a raid at the store at Sudapada. A person has been arrested in this connection, sources said.
The store had huge stocks of first copy garments of at least three popular brands, sources added.
One customer had purchased some garments of a particular brand from the store a few days ago. Later, he got suspicious of the quality of the garments and contacted that brand through e-mail, sources said.
Subsequently, a representative of the garments company reached Bolangir and examined the clothes purchased by the customer.
The customer lodged a complaint in this regard with police after it was found that the clothes were the first copies of that particular brand, said Bolangir Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Tofan Bagh.
“The police registered a case in this regard and raided the store. First copy garments worth around Rs 43 lakh seized from a godown of the store,” added the SDPO.
