First ‘Night Cyclothon’ in Odisha capital. Here’re details

Bhubaneswar: Taking a unique initiative to encourage denizens for cycling in smart city Bhubaneswar, Odisha’s largest circulated vernacular daily ‘Sambad’ is hosting ‘Night Cyclothon’ here.

This will be the first cyclothon event scheduled to be held at night on March 11 in the city.

With an aim to encourage people to have healthy life and keep our environment free from pollution, the leading media group ‘Sambad’ will provide an opportunity for the denizens especially the youths and working class to enjoy the night by joining the ‘Night Cyclothon’ programme before they go to bed for sound sleep.

The Night Cyclothon will be flagged off by Health & Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena, who was recently given additional charge of I&PR department in the minor ministry reshuffle by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, at around 9.00 pm at Janata Maidan, Jayadev Vihar on March 11. The event will conclude at Unit 8 DAV Public School in the city.

Police Commissioner YB Khurania and many celebrities from Ollywood will be present during the event to encourage the participants for riding bicycle and build fraternity by crossing the darkness of night.

The interested participants along with their cycles need to make registration at Janata Maidan before 9.00 pm. Arrangement has been made for dinner for the participants and they will be provided attractive T shirts for memorable ride.

According to reports, the participants will push the pedals on all the streets in the city during cyclothon. The first 200 winners will be awarded at end of the event.
