First session of 16th Lok Sabha starts, adjourned

New Delhi, June 4 :

The first session of the newly-elected 16th Lok Sabha commenced here Wednesday.

Ahead of the first session, senior Congress leader Kamal Nath was sworn-in as the pro tem speaker by President Pranab Mukherjee.

The house observed a two-minute silence in the memory of union minister Gopinath Munde, who died Tuesday following a car accident in the capital and was adjourned soon after.

Pro tem speaker Kamal Nath adjourned the house till 11 a.m. June 5, a few minutes after it commenced the sitting.

“The house is being adjourned till 11 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday) because of the sad demise of our colleague Gopinath Munde,” Nath said.
