First Talcher medical college, now Odisha govt names bridge after former Deputy CM

Bhubaneswar: A newly-built bridge over Brahmani river at Kaniha in Angul district of Odisha will be named after freedom fighter and former Deputy Chief Minister Pabitra Mohan Pradhan.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved a proposal in this regard. “The newly-constructed bridge will be called as Pabitra Mohan Setu,” said an official.

The 511-metre bridge, connecting Siling and Talapada Road, has been built with an expenditure of Rs 45.79 crore.

The locals had earlier urged the state government to name the bridge project after the former Deputy Chief Minister. They had raised their demand in this regard before 5T Secretary VK Pandian during his Talcher visit on July 11.

Notably, the state government had earlier announced that the upcoming medical college and hospital at Talcher in Angul district of Odisha would be named after the former Deputy Chief Minister.

The locals had earlier urged the state government to name Talcher medical college and hospital after Pradhan.

As per the decision taken by the state government, steps would be taken to develop Pradhan’s memorial at Talcher. This apart, a statue of the renowned freedom fighter would be installed in the capital city here.
