Fitness trainer Sarita Maharana among 7 eminent Odias dies of COVID-19

Bhubaneswar: Fitness trainer in Gurgaon, Sarita Maharana, was among many eminent Odias residing outside the State, succumbed to COVID-19 in second wave of the pandemic.

Besides, Proprietor of Shree Jagannath Printing Press in Delhi, Premananda Swain, died of the deadly mutant strain of the virus in Delhi.

His health condition deteriorated four days after being infected with Coronavirus. He was admitted to a private hospital at Janakpuri area for treatment on Saturday due to shortage of bed at government hospitals in Delhi. However, he lost battle to COVID-19 on Sunday.

Swain belonged to Naugaon in Jagatsinghpur district. He was also the vice president of Utkal Durga Puja Committee in Delhi. His son is also undergoing treatment after being tested positive for COVID-19.

The COVID also claimed many lives in a past few days. A senior lawyer at the Supreme Court passed away due to COVID-19 yesterday.

Advocate Manoj Das (55) from Odisha was undergoing treatment at the Sharada Hospital in Greater Noida since April 21 after he was tested positive. His condition deteriorated under treatment due to oxygen shortage on Saturday. He breathed his last on Sunday due to Coronavirus.

Yesterday, retired IES Officer Biranchi Narayan Nanda, young journalist Amjad Badshah and senior news reporter Gopal Chandra Panigrahi also died of COVID-19.

Eminent Odias die of COVID-19 in a past few days

Recently, renowned Odia author Dambaru Dhar Patnaik had succumbed to COVID-19 in Rayagada district.
