Bhunaneswar, July 20:
Odisha's Nandankanan Zoological Park on Wednesday welcomed five Caiman crocodiles brought from Madras Crocodile Bank Trust, Chennai, under a reptile exchange programme in exchange of four water monitors, informed the Nandankanan Zoo authorities.
The five new guests include three females crocodiles.
According to zoo authorities, Nandankanan had Caiman crocodiles in 1986, but later the breed did not sustain.
Caiman crocs are short in size in comparison with other crocodile species and allure visitors more for their size, said zoo authorities.
These crocodiles breed very fast, the authorities added.
