Five Held in Odisha for betting during IPL matches

Odisha police have arrested five Bihari youths on charges of online betting during IPL cricket matches in Jharsuguda district.

Police had conducted a raid on Saturday night in Jharsuguda town and seized Rs 7,85,600 with 9 mobile phones and other objectionable objects from the betting den.

The arrested have been identified as Pratik Yadav, Raja Thakur, Sunil Sarada, Rajkumar Hora and Sudip Madak of Bihar.

According to reports, acting on a tip-off, Jharsuguda police conducted a raid at a house in the town and busted the racket involved in online cricket betting.

The arrested five inmates of the house have been identified as Biharis and were operating the online cricket betting racket staying here since long, said Jharsuguda SDPO Purusotam Sethi.

They have been forwarded to court today, he added.
