Five killed in Maoist attack on Chhattisgarh MLA’s convoy

Nakulnar: At least five security personnel, including a legislator, were killed in Maoist-triggered blast in Chhattisgarh today.

The members of the outlawed group attacked the BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi’s convoy near Nakulnar in Dantewada district.

Reports said while the five personnel including the PSO of the legislator were killed, Mandavi was also killed in the incident.

While Mandavi’s body was initially remained untraced, DIG (Naxal Operations) P Sunderraj confirmed the death of Mandavi in one of the fatal attacks in the recent past.

Gunfight was underway till the filing of this report.

The legislator was campaigning for the upcoming polls when the onslaught took place.

The blast was so powerful that the vehicle in which they were travelling was badly mangled.

The SUV despite being a bullet-proof vehicle was blown into pieces. The police agencies had advised the MLA not to tour the Maoist-infested area based on specific intelligence inputs.
