Five middlemen arrested from SCB hospital in Cuttack

Cuttack: Mangalabag police arrested five middlemen from the SCB Medical College and Hospital here for allegedly diverting patients to private diagnostic centres.

The accused persons are the employees of a contracting firm. They were working as attendants of Radiology Department at the SCB Medical College and Hospital, informed Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra today.

The accused persons were arrested on charges of alluring patients of providing better services in private diagnostic centres.

“The accused persons were diverting poor patients, who were visiting the hospital from remote areas, to private diagnostic centres for medical tests,” Cuttack DCP told media today.

Based on a complaint, the Mangalabag police nabbed the middlemen yesterday from the hospital.

Following the incident, Cuttack Commissionerate Police alerted the patients and advised the SCB authorities to verify the credentials of contractual employees during appointment.
