Five more COVID-19 cases detected in Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: Another five COVID-19 cases were reported in Bhubaneswar today. Official sources said out of the five new cases, four persons tested positive while being in quarantine while the remaining one is a local contact case.

One person from Dumduma area with travel history to West Bengal, while another one from Old Town area with travel history to Gujarat.

One person of Ghatikia area with travel history to West Bengal tested positive for the virus. Another person from Pokhariput area has been infected with the virus and is a family member of a person with travel history to Delhi.

The local contact case is from Gajapati Nagar area. Later, Philosophy, English & Economics departments of Utkal University were sealed after the person from Gajapati Nagar was identified as a contact of an employee of the varsity.

So far, 86 persons in Bhubaneswar tested positive for the virus. The number of persons cured from the infection is 51.

While the number of active cases stands at 32 in Bhubaneswar, three died of the disease.

Official sources said the newly cases were detected in last 24 hrs under Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation till 9 am on June 6.

An official said further contact tracing is still continuing. Primary contacts and nearby houses are being quarantined, sanitised and will be under active surveillance.
