Five persons from Chhattisgarh arrested in IPL betting racket in Odisha’s Nuapada

Police said a case has been registered and further investigation is underway. 

Nuapada: Police has arrested as many as five persons for their alleged involvement in an IPL betting racket in Jonk area of Odisha’s Nuapada district on Tuesday night. The accused, all of whom are from Raipur, Bemataraand Raj Nandgaon districts of neighbouring Chhattisgarh, were apprehended during night patrolling.

As per reports, a team led by sub-inspector Arabinda Meher of Jonk police station and some other security personnel conducted a raid in a house at Khariar Road basing on specific intelligence and busted an online IPL betting den while apprehending the accused.

Besides the arrest, police also seized 21 android cell phones, four laptops, 15 ATM cards of different banks, 10 cheque books of different accounts in separate banks,  five pass books, two air bags and a notebook having handwritten accounting, among other things.

Police said a case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
