Flesh trade racket busted; 2 queen bees among 13 arrested, 6 sex workers rescued

Balasore: In a major crackdown, a sex racket was busted today afternoon at a rented house in Amardha Road locality under Basta police limits of Balasore district.

The district police have arrested at least 13 persons in this connection, including two queen bees. The racket was active in Balasore, Bhubaneswar, Khordha town and neighbouring West Bengal. Six sex workers have been rescued by the police team, Balasore SP Sagarika Nath said in a press conference.

According to Nath, the mastermind of the racket is used to prepare fake identity (ID) cards and Aadhaar cards and send sex workers from Bangladesh. The racket was also engaging some local girls from and outside Balasore district.

Acting on a tip-off about the illegal activity, the police team earlier conducted raids at different places in Balasore and Khordha districts leading to the arrests.

The 13 arrested persons were forwarded to a local court later in the day.

A detailed probe into the case is underway, the Balasore SP informed.
