Flight services resume from Odisha’s Veer Surendra Sai Airport

Jharsuguda: Flight services that were suspended due to the nationwide lockdown in view of COVID-19 pandemic resumed from Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsuguda today. Two flights of SpiceJet airline flew from the airport to Delhi and Hyderabad this afternoon.

While one flight of SpiceJet carrying 86 passengers from New Delhi landed at the Jharsuguda airport at 3 PM and flew back to Delhi carrying 63 passengers, another plane carrying 20 passengers from Hyderabad landed at the Jharsuguda airport at 3:30 PM and returned with 43 passengers.

In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the airport took precautionary measures including thermal screening of passengers at Veer Surendra Sai Airport, said Director of the airport P. Karunakaran.

Passengers were asked to reach the airport three hours prior to their scheduled flight for health examination and sanitisation of their luggage, he added.

The airport director further said the passengers who arrived at the Jharsuguda airport also underwent health screening and their registration and stamping in hand were done.

The district administration had arranged 10 cabs for the passengers who deboarded at the airport.
