Flights cancelled in Bhubaneswar due to Cyclone ‘FANI’; Here’s details

Bhubaneswar: After train services were cancelled in Odisha, flight services have also been cancelled in view of Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm FANI.

Sources at private airline IndiGo have revealed that all its flights flying in and out of Bhubaneswar tomorrow, .i.e. May 3 have been cancelled. All flights after the departure of last flight at 22:20 hours have been cancelled as well.

However, all IndiGo flights scheduled for departure today are operating. A total of 48 IndiGo flights have been cancelled.

The airline has waived off cancellation and rescheduling charges between May 2 and May 5. Moreover, passengers travelling to and from Bhubaneswar and Kolkata can opt for change in routes in light of the impending storm.

Similarly, national carrier Air India has also cancelled its flights from/to Bhubaneswar on May 3, an official informed.

Furthermore, all inward and outward GoAir flights scheduled for May 3 also stand cancelled.

Air Asia has cancelled its international flight from Bhubaneswar-Bangkok-Bhubaneswar that arrives at 11:45 am on May 3 and departs at midnight.

Vistara also declared four of its flights non-operational on May 3.

In an official travel update released by Vistara, the airline has waived off flight change and cancellation fees for Bhubaneswar and Kolkata bound flights between the same dates, in light of the expected cyclone. However, difference on the base fare will be applicable on changing the date of travel.

Union Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu tweeted that the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has issued an official alert to all coastal airports to take precautions.

Furthermore, AAI has also instructed coastal airports to impose Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) immediately and monitor the situation at the highest level.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued an operational advisory this evening to airlines and operators over discontinuation of flight operations. “No flight will depart or arrive at Kolkata airport between 9.30 pm of May 3 and 6 pm of May 4,” the DGCA said in a statement.
