Bhubaneswar: Enjoy sustainable shopping with Flipkart this festive season as India’s homegrown e-commerce major has added over 2000 electric vehicles to its delivery fleet ahead of Big Billion Days sale to expedite its logistic capacity.

The company stated that it is going plastic-free for delivery of millions of packages along with deploying over 2000 electric vehicles in its delivery fleet across 90 cities in India prior to the festive and The Big Billion Days.

“Festive season is about creating progressive value for all stakeholders and we are proud to our customers to bring them a sustainable festive season with each order,” said Mahesh Pratap Singh, head of Sustainability & Social Responsibility, Flipkart.

This is a part of Flipkart’s plan to deploy 25,000 electric vehicles in its supply chain by 2030 with an aim to achieve 100% electric delivery fleet, a commitment under EV100 campaign by The Climate Group.

Flipkart has already started deploying 2-wheeler and 3-wheeler electric vehicles in multiple locations for delivery across the country, including in Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Guwahati and Pune.

The electric fleet includes 2-wheeler, 3-wheeler, and 4-wheeler vehicles designed and assembled in India. It helps boost local innovation and economy. To meet the target, Flipkart has partnered with leading electric vehicle manufacturers, including Hero Electric, Mahindra Electric and Piaggio, for specific vehicles to be deployed for its first and last-mile delivery fleet across the country.
