Flood tackling: Odisha cancels Puja leave of officers in Secretariat

Bhubaneswar: In view of the ongoing relief, rescue and restoration works in cyclonic storm ‘Titli’-affected districts of Odisha, the state government has decided to cancel Puja leave of all the officers in the Secretariat and Heads of Departments.

All secretaries and Heads of Departments have been directed to ensure proper roster arrangement so that the offices are open during Puja vacation.

Notably, heavy rains triggered by the ‘Titli’ severe cyclonic storm has caused flood-like situations in several districts of Odisha. The situation remains vulnerable, especially in Ganjam, Rayagada and Gajapati districts where the remote areas have been cut off due to the incessant rains after Titli hit the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh coast on Thursday morning.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today constituted a three-member ministerial committee to monitor relief, rescue and restoration activities in three districts affected by cyclonic storm ‘Titli’.

Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi said two Indian Navy choppers from Vishakapatnam will be pressed into action in Ganjam district to expedite the relief and rescue operations.
