Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today claimed to have arrested a food delivery boy on charges of stealing ornaments and other valuables from people’s houses in the capital city here.

The police have seized 423 grams of gold ornaments, 650 grams of silver ornaments, two laptops and a few mobile phones from accused Sanjay Nisha, sources said.

Sanjay, an undergraduate student in Business Administration, was also stealing women’s undergarments, said a police officer.

“The accused was working as a food delivery boy in the daytime and stealing ornaments and other valuables from people’s houses at night. He used to enter people’s houses by breaking open the windows,” added the police officer.

The accused was gifting stolen items to his girl friend. He had been earlier booked in at least 23 cases at Atri, Sharadhapur and Khurda police stations, he said.

“The accused has a habit of stealing women’s undergarments. We have contacted a psychiatrist as part of our investigation into the case,” said the police officer.
