‘Foolproof security’ for Jagannath temple

The security measures in and around Odisha’s 12th century holy Hindu shrine Sri Jagannath temple will be stepped up to ensure complete safety.A decision to this effect was taken at a high level meeting of senior police officials here today.

The meeting presided over by Special DG Sanjib Marik, decided to strengthen the existing security system at the four entrance gates of the temple and modernisation of CCTV camera setups installed around the temple premises.

Besides, steps would be taken to make proper use of the watch towers near the four entrance gates while there would be a thorough and comprehensive check of all items taken inside the temple.

“The meeting also decided to seek regular inputs and updates from a professional team to ensure a full-proof security regime for the temple”, Marik told reporters after the two-hour long meeting.

Among others, Puri collector Dhiren Patnaik, Director (Intelligence) Sunil Ray, IG (Central Range) RP Koche, IG (Operation) Soumendra Priyadarshi, Puri SP Anup Sahoo and other senior police officials were present at the meeting.
