An Italian tourist was detained while attempting to climb on the watch tower near Singhadwara (Lion Gate) of Sri Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri town on Saturday.

The foreigner, identified as Geovani Mario Vitorio from Cesto San Geovani of Italy, was seen attempting to climb on the unmanned watch tower at about 5 PM in the afternoon.
He was caught by the locals and the temple servitors. Following information, Singhadwara Police rushed to the spot and took him to the police station for interrogation.
Police later handed the Italian tourist to the temple office where he told the officials that he had no wrong motive as he was climbing the watch tower to take photograph of the temple.
Police later released him later in the day.
