Forest personnel rescue live pangolin in Odisha’s Nabarangpur; three arrested

Kosagumuda: A team of Forest personnel rescued a live pangolin following a raid in Deodangari forest near Baraguda village under Kodinga range and Kosagumuda block in Nabarangpur district, today afternoon. The team arrested three persons in this connection and initiated a probe.

The arrested are Madhaba Muduli, Ghasi Takri, and Tularam Harijan, all from Koraput district.

The team was tipped off that the accused were negotiating with a party to sell the seized pangolin. Swinging into action, the forest personnel raided leading to the seizure and three arrests.

According to the source, the DFO Subhendu Prasad Behera got the information from a reliable source that the accused were finalising a deal to dispose of the pangolin. They were forwarded to court later in the day.

Acting on a directive of Nabarangpur DFO, the three-member team also seized a motorcycle used in the crime, from the possession of the accused persons. The probe is underway, an official said.
