Former BJD Corporator Ranjita Biswal arrested again; 2 guns seized

Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police today once again arrested former Corporator of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Ranjita Biswal, who was earlier arrested for her alleged links with gangster brothers Sushant and Sushil Dhalasamant.

A special squad of the Commissionerate Police arrested Ranjita and seized two guns from her possession.

Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh informed that the cops had yesterday arrested an associate of the D-brothers and seized a gun from his possession. Based on information obtained during his interrogation, the police raided the ex-Corporator’s house today and recovered two guns before arresting her.

The Dhalasamant brothers had hatched a plan to commit a crime during the upcoming elections, he added.

On March 7,2018, the Commissionerate police had arrested Ranjita for allegedly supplying firearms to Mrityunjay Nayak, who had attempted to kill contractor Bijan Pal on February 23, at the behest of Sushant Dhalasamant. She had released from jail after the Orissa High Court granted her bail in July last year.

Ranjita was dismissed from BJD’s primary membership following her arrest.
