Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s twitter account suspended temporarily

New Delhi: In a tweet, the Indian National Congress informed the Twitter account of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has been suspended. It added due process was being followed for restoration of Gandhi’s account.

The tweet stated, “Shri @RahulGandhi’s Twitter account has been temporarily suspended & due process is being followed for its restoration. Until then, he will stay connected with you all through his other SM platforms & continue to raise his voice for our people & fight for their cause. Jai Hind!”

This week Gandhi tweeted a photo of him meeting the family of a nine-year-old girl, who was sexually assaulted and murdered. Following this, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) asked the Delhi Police and Twitter to take action against Gandhi for publishing the photo on the social media.

The NCPCR observed that the tweet showing the photo of the minor girl’s family violated the Juvenile Justice Act and the Pocso Act.
