Former DGM of CESU convicted in disproportionate assets case

Bhubaneswar: A former Deputy General Manager (Electrical) named Damodar Das then working in CESU Head Office at IDCO Towers here was convicted today by the Hon’ble Court of Special Vigilance Judge, Bhubaneswar.

The CESU DGM was charge-sheeted in Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No-53, Dtd-29.12.2008, U/s 13 (2) r/w 13 (1)(e) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for possessing assets disproportionate to his legal sources of income, a press release issued by Odisha Vigilance stated.

Das was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for a period of 1 year and to pay a fine of Rs 10,000. In case of default in payment of the fine, Das will undergo rigorous imprisonment for a further period of three months, the official communique mentioned.

Erstwhile Inspector of Bhubaneswar Vigilance Division and at present working as DSP, Cuttack Vigilance Division Sushil Ekka had investigated the case and Public Prosecutor (PP) of the Special Vigilance Court in Bhubaneswar Ajit Kumar Pattanaik conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
