Former MP Pyari Mohapatra’s daughter Sikta Pati joins Odisha Congress

Bhubaneswar: Former parliamentarian (Rajya Sabha member) Pyarimohan Mohapatra’s eldest daughter Sikta Pati joined the Congress party in Bhubaneswar, today.

Taking to its Twitter page, the Odisha Congress wrote, “With her (Sikta’s) strong leadership skills and unwavering commitment to social justice, Dr Pati is a valuable addition to the party. Welcome aboard! @SaratPatINC.”

Sikta joined at Congress Bhawan in the presence of Odisha in-charge A Chellakumar, OPCC Chief Sarat Pattanayak and former OPCC President Niranjan Patnaik. Her inclusion to Congress came close on the heels of former Odisha Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik joining the party.

“I got an opportunity to become part of a national political party (INC). Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra inspired me to join the party. I will discharge my duties as it will assign me to,” Sikta said.

Worth mentioning, Sikta has done MA in Economics and MBA too. She became the General Secretary of Odisha Janmorcha (OJM) following Pyarimohan’s death. Subsequently, she joined BJD in 2019 in the presence of the party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Pyarimohan was the chief advisor of Naveen on BJD affairs from 2000 to 2012.
