Former MP Soumya Patnaik takes oath as Odisha MLA

Bhubaneswar: Former Rajya Sabha MP Soumya Ranjan Patnaik was sworn-in as the legislator of Odisha Assembly here today.

Pro tem Speaker Amar Prasad Satpathy administered the oath to the newly elected MLA in the House.

Patnaik was elected for the first time to the Legislative Assembly from Khandapada seat. He won the 2019 Assembly polls defeating Independent candidate Dusmanta Kumar Swain with a margin of 81,430 votes.

Along with Patnaik, other elected members including Bikram Keshari Aarukh, Arun Sahoo, Sudam Marndi, Badri Narayan Patra, Ananta Das, Prafulla Mallick, Bhupinder Singh, Nityananda Sahoo, Sashi Bhushan Behera, Raghunandan Das and Pramila Mallick also took the oath in the 16th Odisha Assembly.

Soon after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took the oath as the legislator of state assembly, the elected members are being sworn-in as the MLAs during two-day event in the House.
