Former Odisha Congress President’s son critical; shifted to Hyderabad

Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha Congress President Jayadev Jena’s son Sangram Jena was shifted to Hyderabad for treatment after his health condition deteriorated due to COVID-19.

The former Odisha Pradesh Youth Congress President was referred to Hyderabad due to non-availability of Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) treatment at a private hospital here where he was admitted nearly a month ago.

Sangram Keshari Jena alias Bapi Jena was hospitalised after being infected with Coronavirus. He was put on ventilator for more than 20 days. As his health condition did not improve, he was shifted to Hyderabad through air ambulance for treatment.

On Saturday, former Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Nabin Nanda’s son Sambit Nanda had succumbed to COVID-19 allegedly for not getting ECMO treatment at a private hospital in Cuttack.
