Former Odisha IAS officer sentenced to jail in DA case

Bhubaneswar, Aug 11:
The Special Vigilance Court here today sentenced a former IAS officer to three years in jail in a disproportionate assets (DA) case of 2008.
The court sentenced former IAS officer Himanshu Sekhar Samantaray to imprisonment for three years.
In addition to that, the court has imposed a fine of Rs 20 lakh failing which the imprisonment term will be extended by another 20 months.
Samantaray was the managing director of Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation.
During a raid by the Vigilance on his house in 2008, it had estimated the bureaucrat’s properties at Rs 1.34 crore out of which Rs 80 lakh worth of properties were found to be disproportionate to his known sources of income.
