Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha minister and veteran Congress leader Damburudhara Ulaka passed away at a private hospital in the city, last night. He was 86.

As per family sources, Ulaka was undergoing treatment at the healthcare facility due to age-related ailments. He breathed his last at around 10.50 pm on Tuesday.

His mortal remains will be taken to his birthplace in Rayagada's Bankili for last rites.

Political leaders cutting across party lines condoled the demise of Ulaka.

Ulaka was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly five times from the Bissam Cuttack constituency in Rayagada district.

He had successfully contested the assembly polls from the constituency in 1974, 1977, 1995, 2004, and 2009 on Congress ticket.
