Former Odisha Minister Jayanarayan Mishra suspended from BJP

The BJP today suspended senior party leader and former Minister Jayanarayan Mishra and eleven others including nine Zilla Parishad members from the party for six years for anti-party activities.

Suspension of Mishra and eleven others was announced by BJP state unit president Basant Panda at the party’s state headquarters here this evening. The suspended include former BJP Sambalpur district president Nauri Nayak and newly elected Zilla Parishad Chairman Radheyshyam Barik.

Mishra and others were suspended from the party on three grounds namely-for going against the party’s decision, for showing disrespect to the party’s symbol and for insulting party’s state unit vice-president Samir Mohanty.

“I would like to inform you that senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, former Minister, former deputy chief whip and state executive council member Jayanarayan Mishra, state executive council member Nauri Nayak and Zilla Parishad members Radheyshyam Barik and eight others have been suspended from the party for defying party decision in the Zilla Parishad election at Sambalpur, for going against the party symbol and for insulting party’s senior leader Samir Mohanty,” announced BJP state unit president Basant Panda.

On the other hand, Mishra in his reaction to his suspension from the party said: ” I was in BJP, I am in BJP and will continue to remain in BJP. I am yet to receive the suspension order. They will certainly issue me a show cause. I will give my reply. I am a grassroots level worker. I had no role in the attack on Samir Mohanty. It was unexpected and I condemn it.”
