Former Odisha MLA Chiranjib Biswal resigns from Congress

Bhubaneswar: In a huge setback for Congress in Odisha ahead of ensuing 2024 Elections, senior party leader Chiranjib Biswal resigned from the the grand old party.

The former two-time MLA and cricketer tendered his resignation letter to Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Sarat Pattnayak today.

He is likely to join the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) ahead of the forthcoming elections 2024.

Chiranjib Biswal, the son of Congress stalwart and former Odisha Deputy Chief Minister late Basant Kumar Biswal, was first elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly on a Congress ticket from Tirtol in 2004 elections. He won the Assembly elections in 2014 from Jagatsinghpur.

He was the Vice-President of Odisha Congress and also served as a member of the All India Congress Committee.
