Former Odisha MLA Rabi Mallick quits BJD

Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha legislator Rabi Mallick today resigned from primary membership of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) ahead of elections 2019.

He tendered his resignation to BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik without mentioning any reason. He also stepped down as the member of State Planning Board.

Sources said that he dumped the party as he was ignored in selection of poll candidates for Kakatpur seat.

The BJD has fielded Surendra Sethi as the poll candidate from Kakatpur Assembly Constituency in the ensuing 2019 elections.

Worth mentioning, Rabi Mallick had contested the polls from Kakatpur Assembly seat on BJD ticket in 2009 elections. He won the polls defeating Biswa Bhusan Das with a margin of 15,221 votes.
