Bhubaneswar, Mar 18:

Ever since the news about the ill health condition of former Rajya Sabha member and Odisha Jana Morcha founder Pyarimohan Mohapatra broke, rumors about his death spread on the social media.

The family members today urged people not to spread such rumors.

Mopapatra’s son Sambit and daughter Seema today appealed to the people to maintain restraint while publishing such news on social media platforms.

“Please don’t spreach such news on social media. We are in hospital and our father is with us. We are getting to know that people are posting on social media that he has passed away. At least, confirm from us,” Seema said.

The astute politician’s son Sambit too appealed to people saying, “He is in a critical state. He is under treatment. It is on social media that he is gone. It is untrue. He is very alive and very much with us. We are hoping that he would recover.”

Worth mentioning, numerous posts on social media platforms were doing rounds about Mohapatra senior’s death. Free online dictionary Wikipedia too had entered on Pyarimohan Mohapatra’s profile that he was dead. However, it was corrected hours later.

Notably, the 77-year-old bureaucrat-turned politician has been put on ventilator support since yesterday morning after his health condition deteriorated.

Mohapatra was undergoing treatment in Mumbai since last six months. First he was undergoing treatment at Breach Candy Hospital and later at Hinduja Hospital. He was detected with a malignant tumor in lungs.
