Former Odisha PCC chief gets key role ahead of 2024 elections

Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Prasad Harichandan has been appointed as the convenor of party’s election management team ahead of the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in the state.

“Former OPCC president and former minister Prasad Harichandan has been appointed as the convenor of election management for Odisha with immediate effect,” said a release issued by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) today.

Harichandan has also been assigned with the task of overseeing coordination and communication with the media and social media ahead of the twin polls in the state.

“Harichandan will oversee coordination and communication with the media, social media, party’s election war room, PRAGAMAN, BLA-1 & BLA-2 completion and political mobilization,” added the release, signed by AICC in-charge for Odisha Ajoy Kumar.

Notably, Harichandan had been elected to Odisha Assembly from Satyabadi constituency in Puri district thrice in the past. He had served as a minister in the state in 1999. Harichandan had also acted as OPCC president for a few years.
