Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today laid foundation stone for Odisha’s first ‘Adivasi Bhawan’ at Gothapatna in the capital city here.
The state government will spend around Rs 100 crore for the purpose. The proposed Adivasi Bhawan will be the one-stop centre for propagation of tribal art and culture. Besides, conference and exhibitions will be organised at Adivasi Bhawan, said the Chief Minister.
The people of as many as 64 tribal communities will be benefitted by Adivasi Bhawan. There will be affordable accommodation facility at Adivasi Bhawan for tribal people visiting the capital city from across the state, added the Chief Minister.
According to the Chief Minister, the Adivasi Bhawan will have facility for exhibition and sale of tribal products. An outlet of Koraput coffee will also come up at the facility.
“Tribal people can get detailed information on health facilities, educational institutions and government offices at Adivasi Bhawan,” said the Chief Minister.
Members of the tribal communities had earlier requested the state government to set up the Adivasi Bhawan in the capital city for serving a host of purposes including organization of exhibitions and fairs on tribal products.
Among others, ST&SC Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Jagannath Saraka and departmental secretary Roopa Roshan Sahoo were present at the event.
