Four arrested after video of girl misbehaved by hostel owner goes viral

Bargarh: After a video showing the owner of a girls’ hostel misbehaving with an inmate of the hostel in Bargarh district, police today arrested four persons in connection with the incident.

The four arrested identified as Rabi Narayan Chhatar, Bimbadhar Mallick, Subodh Meher and Jagannath Chhatar were later produced before court.

As per the complaint, the owner of Padhee Girls’ Hostel at Gourapada in the town had allegedly misbehaved with an inmate a few days ago. The girl had recorded a video of the incident and lodged a complaint with Bargarh town police. However, the video later went viral on social media.

Acting on the complaint, the police had launched an investigation and arrested the four accused today.

Police said a case has been registered against the four under Section 292 of the IPC and 67 of IT Act .

“Search is on to nab the person, who uploaded and made the video viral on social media. A technical team is carrying out an inspection in this regard,” said Bargarh Town police station IIC.
