Four BSF jawans martyred in Chhattisgarh encounter with Maoists

Raipur: At least four Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were killed and two others sustained injuries after an encounter with Maoists in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh.

As per BSF officials, the encounter took place near Mahala village under Partapur police limits in Kanker district. Four jawans of the 11th battalion of the BSF were killed.

The security personnel had set out on routine patrolling when the members of the outlawed group opened indiscriminate firing on the vehicle killing at least four of them.

The bodies have been recovered and injured have been admitted to nearby hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, combing operation has been intensified in the area.

Worth mentioning, the Maoist-affected district will go to polls on April 18 to elect candidate to parliament.

In Chhattisgarh, this is the second such attack in less than three weeks. On March 18, a CRPF jawan was killed in Maoist attack in Dantewada.
