Mumbai/Bhubaneswar: Tragedy struck on Monday morning when a Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel fatally shot four people, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector of police, on a train near Palghar railway station in Maharashtra, as confirmed by an official.
The unfortunate incident took place on the Jaipur Express train (Train number 12956). The accused in this heinous act, RPF Constable Chetan Singh, discharged his automatic weapon around 5 am, claiming the lives of one of his fellow RPF colleagues and three innocent passengers on their way to Mumbai from Jaipur.
Singh was immediately detained, and authorities also seized his weapon.
According to the Western Railways, Constable Chetan Singh carried out the shooting while the Jaipur Express train was in motion, crossing Palghar Station. After the attack, he managed to flee the scene by jumping out of the train near Dahisar Station.
The investigation into the motive behind this devastating act is underway.
