Four get lifer for murder in Odisha

Nuapada: The District & Sessions Court of Odisha’s Nuapada district today sentenced four persons to life imprisonment after convicting them in a murder case.

District Sessions Judge Asim Kumar Das in addition to the sentence imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 to be paid by each convict.

On failure to pay the fine, convicts have to undergo one more year of imprisonment, the court further said in its order.

According to the case records, on the evening of November 14 in 2011 at around 7 pm Ghasiram Satnami (35) of Parkod village under Jonk police station limits had asked Ajuram Jagat (40), Doctor Jagat (30), Bhagabati Jagat (50) and Jagannath Jagat (40) to stop shouting.

Agitated over it, the four attacked Ghasiram with an axe and critically injured him.

Ghasiram was rushed to the local hospital where he slipped into coma. He was later admitted to a private hospital in Raipur where he succumbed to his injuries.
