Four arrested in Odisha’s Cuttack for smuggling ganja

Cuttack: In a major crackdown on illegal ganja trade, Excise department seized a huge cache of cannabis and arrested four persons today afternoon at Nirgundi toll gate in Cuttack district.

The accused have been identified as K.Laxman Rao(42), Trinath Hantal(27), Seikh Sahani(42) and Sheikh Mohammad Mohsini(32).

Acting on a reliable information, officials of the Excise department frisked a Bolero vehicle near the Nirgundi toll gate. They seized 131 kg ganja worth Rs 15 lakh and arrested the four persons for smuggling of the contraband item.

Sources said the cannabis were being transported in the Bolero vehicle from Koraput to Balasore.
