Four including three of a family killed in lightning strikes in Odisha

Balasore/Bhawanipatna: In a shocking incident, three members of a family were killed this evening in lightning strike in Balasore district of Odisha.

The deceased have been identified as Ramachandra Mahanna (20), Chandan Mahanna (25) and Sourav Mahanna (19) of Bhograi area in the district.

The incident occurred when the trio was heading to a local market to buy essential items.

The deceased belong to Kacheisapa village under Kachuadi gram panchayat in Bhograi block in the district.

As per reports, the cousins were moving in a two wheeler when tragedy struck them at Bhuabandha near Chiteithakurani.

One of the deceased’s mother had died few days ago and the trio was engaged in preparation of the Dasaha (10th day) rituals.

In a related incident, a young farmer identified as Rupadhar Bagha (35) of Malpada village under Dharamgarh police limits in Kalahandi district was killed by lightning today.

The mishap occurred when he was in his farmland.

He was rescued in a critical condition by villagers and rushed to local hospital.

However, the attending doctor declared him brought dead.
