Four MARKFED officials booked for graft in Odisha

Cuttack, May 1:

Vigilance Directorate of Odisha today registered a case against four officials of MARKFED on misappropriation charges.

The Vigilance registered cases against Manoj Kumar Pandey, Godown In-Charge; Rajkishore Panda, Area Manager; Dukhishyam Mandhata, Manager Input and Ashok Kumar Mahasuar, Development Officer and charged them for misappropriating 353.250 MT of fertilizers amounting to Rs 44,11,500.

These officials of Markfed, Bhubaneswar have been charged under section 13 (2) to be read with 13(1)(c)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 and sections 409 and 120-B of the IPC.

Acting on a tip-off on large scale irregularities at MARKFED’s buffer godown at Bhubaneswar, the Vigilance had conducted surprise checks from 6 April to April 17.

During scrutiny of documents and registers and physical verification of stocks, it was revealed that there was a shortage of 353.05 MTs of fertilizers.

Investigation in the matter is in progress, said an official of the Vigilance.
