Four minor boys among 8 injured in cracker explosion in Ganjam

Aska: In an unfortunate incident, at least eight persons, including four minor boys were critically injured after firecrackers exploded during a Mahabharat play at Kaithara village under Dharakote block of Ganjam district early this morning.

The critically-injured persons include 4 minors- Om Reddy (8),Suman Reddy (7), Raja Gouda (12), Chandan Bisoyi (8)- and two artistes and two others from the audience-Bijay Gaudo, Babu Bisoyi, Arun Bisoyi and Bijay Reddy.

Reportedly, Mahabharat was being staged at Kaithara during Dola festival since late last night. Early this morning, few firecrackers that was kept to be used during the play suddenly caught fire and exploded leaving eight persons injured. All of them were sent to Aska hospital for preliminary treatment and further shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur after their conditions worsened.
