Minor girl found pregnant at hostel in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a minor girl was found pregnant at a girls’ hostel run by the ST & SC Development Department of the Odisha Government in Bhubaneswar.

Police have started investigation into the incident after the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) lodged a complaint in this regard.

According to reports, pregnancy of the girl came to fore while health check-up was being carried out in girls’ hostels and residential schools in the capital city under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK).

We are investigating into the incident based on the complaint received, Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahoo said.

Health check up of the inmates was conducted ahead of the summer vacation. However, one of them has been found pregnant during the routine check up post reopening of school, sources said.
