Four train looters arrested in Odisha capital; two escape

Bhubaneswar, Feb 9:

Government Railway Police (GRP) today arrested four notorious train looters and dacoits while they were trying to loot  passengers on a moving express train at the railway platform in Odisha’s capital city. Two others managed to escape.

The accused were identified as Sk. Abdul (32), Bapi alias Sunil Singh (21), Rami Naik (21) and Bapi Naik (22), all of  them residents of Kadali Godown, Banafula Vastee, Budha Nagar, near the city Railway Station.

They were arrested for assembling  and preparing to commit dacoity with deadly weapons in the wee hour of Monday, informed Saubhagya Kumar Swain, IIC, Bhubaneswar GRP police station.

A Sword, a Bhujali, chilly  powder, country liquor, cigarettes, bidi, a lighter, black masks etc  have been seized from the arrested perosn, he added.

The gang has already been booked in Bhubaneswar GRPS Case No-15/15 and 17/15 for committing dacoity in Konark Express and Bangalore-Guwahati Express and attacking passengers. They have been arrested and forwarded to a local Court today.

“We will take the accused on remand for further interrogation in connection with the case. They are also involved in multiple cases in Bhubaneswar,” the IIC said.

GRPS has slapped charges under sections 399/402 of IPC against the accused.
